It was a busy summer! I definitely did not take as many pictures as I had hoped to, but there are a few to share that detail a few of summer’s events.
We started the summer with an Indians baseball game at Victory Field with Lowell’s class. Lowell caught a home run ball.
Lowell had the chance to go to Canada with his best friend from growing up, my little bro, his cousin, and his uncle. They managed to get detained at the border for a few hours, finally were released, and then ran out of gas in the truck so they had to siphon it from the boat. Geniuses. Actually…I was impressed with the whole siphoning it out of the boat. It’s like something out of Survivorman…except not quite that good. ![]()
While the boys were off fishing, I went to visit my sister and her husband down in Pensacola, Florida. I had so much fun seeing where she lived, meeting her new animals, and catching up on life. Her husband just found out yesterday that he was selected to fly helicopters for the Marines – his top choice. He did awesome on his tests and flights! Yay Evan!
We went to the fair…and the now infamous Sugarland concert.
I went to see Britney. Woot woot! haha I was supposed to go see her years ago – pre-craziness. She “hurt her knee” that year and cancelled her concert. Don’t judge me for my taste in classy music.
Annnnd finally, we started doing a monthly themed dinner with some friends of ours. The rules are simple. You have to dress for the theme and cook food that fits as well. First theme was All-American. Do you like the socks with sandals? We had ribs, mac ‘n cheese, red white and blue parfaits, deviled eggs, and potato salad.
The next theme…
There was some Kid Rock and Free Bird playing in the background and a toilet seat planter in the front yard. There was a hog roasting in the front yard, wine in a box, and cheap beer on hand. Lots of beenie weenies, twinkies, and even a fish sticks and tator tot “cake” for someone’s 30th birthday were consumed. Good times! I’ll let you figure out that theme .
PS: Doesn’t Lowell look hot?!
What about you? What was the highlight of your summer?

The hightlight of my summer was going on a girls trip. Us 4 ladies went to Siesta Key and Sanibel Island Florida. We had fabulous weather and a wonderful time!
Are you going to see Katy Perry too?
I’ve always thought a girls trip would be so much fun! Right after college, just us girls took a long weekend to go to a friend’s wedding in Florida and it was awesome.
Sadly…not going to Katy Perry. I felt totally out of place at Britney – I think I was over the average age by a good 10 years. Who knew she had developed a new following?! haha
Looks and sounds like you have a full, blessed, and one of the best summers yet! Very nice! PS. I love the idea of the themed Dinners. What a great excuse to get all the friends together! And even better to come up with innovative ways to pair food and drinks! Keep us up to date with pictures on those! Glad all is well!
I’ll definitely post pics from future themed nights! I’m excited for February – Cajun!
You were at the Sugarland concert?? I’m glad that you’re okay! I went to the fair the Tuesday after the accident happened, and it was still sad/strange to be there. Summer went by so fast, I can’t believe it’s almost over!
I wondered what the feel would be at the fair afterwards. We didn’t see the collapse – we had just gotten to the bottom of the grandstand steps when we heard the scream as the wind whipped up, but we thought people were screaming because it felt like a tornado. It wasn’t until we heard the people next to us in the horse barn crying that we found out. So sad.
